Summary of Responsibilities:

As the Production Supervisor you will be responsible for the frontline supervision of shop floor operations.  The Supervisor is required to be on the plant floor 90% of your day interacting with and supervising the teams in these departments. This position is critical to operations and will drive production through the various departments to ensure delivery of quality products on time.

The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure that the team is adhering to work instructions, procedures, QC checks and on time delivery of jobs
  • Assign staff to machines/tasks
  • Schedule and prioritize daily job production
  • Complete performance reviews of staff
  • Achieve efficiencies and productivity targets
  • Ensure product meets quality standards specific to the operation or customer requirements
  • Ensure Health & Safety policies are followed at all times
  • Participate in daily production meetings and pre-production reviews of projects when necessary

Shift: Evening/Nights (4:00 pm to 2:00 am)                                                                                                      

Experience:

  • Previous Frontline Supervision experience within the Graphic Arts/Printing Industry
  • Technical knowledge of press, bindery and other areas of the Graphic Arts/Printing Industry
  • Administrative skills; competent computer skills
  • Graduation from a recognized Graphic Arts program is an asset or skilled trade in the Graphic Arts/Printing Industry

 

Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills (verbal/written); fluent in English
  • Self starter that can work with minimal supervision and able to work effectively with a team
  • Must be a strong multi-tasker and able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have strong organziation skills with the ability to manage and co-ordinate a variety of projects
  • Demonstrate leadership with your team

 

Knowledge:

  • Graphic Arts/Printing Industry knowledge is required
  • Production knowledge of Machine Bindery (folders, stitchers, guillotines, perfect binders, etc), Offset Presses
  • Strong computer knowlege
