Summary of Responsibilities:

The Driver drives the company van and truck for local and reasonable distance deliveries to specific destinations.  Specifically he/she is responsible for the following:

  • Drives truck, as assigned, to deliver goods to customer destinations
  • Loading and securing delivery goods onto truck(s) for safe transport
  • Preparing documentation assuring the proper paperwork is available and goods are signed for upon delivery
  • Uses GPS and/or reads and interprets maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient and effective routes for deliveries
  • Interacts with customers to obtain signatures, give receipts, etc.
  • Keeps regular daily driving records (i.e. mileage, trip details, gas receipts)
  • Observes speed limits and obeying all rules of the road and traffic signs
  • Performs simple vehicle maintenance (i.e. taking vehicle for inspections, filling tires with air, daily vehicle safety checks, etc.)
  • Informs supervisor of any vehicle, customer or product problems
  • Maintains assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside
  • Maintains regular telephone contact with Department or Manager/Supervisor to receive instructions (note: should observe Federal laws in doing so using Bluetooth while driving)
  • Safely operates equipment to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials
  • Works in the Shipping area when no deliveries are required

Hours of work:  Monday to Friday, 2:30pm 11:00pm


  • 1 year previous experience in deliveries or a professional driving record related to deliveries
  • Completed secondary education and/or equivalent or relevant experience will be considered
  • Basic computer literacy required
  • Knowledge of Ottawa and surrounding area (i.e. ability to effectively navigate with GPS, map(s) and/or directions)
  • Basic French language skills an asset
  • Lift truck experience an asset


  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a repeated basis.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to seek and find information
  • Ability to work overtime when required is an asset
  • Must have and provide a clean driver abstract record obtained from the Ministry of Transportation


  • Must be client service oriented
  • Numeracy/Basic math skills required
  • Excellent reading, writing and comprehension level in the English language
  • Job task planning and organizing skills
  • Good attitude and strong work ethic is essential
  • Problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills are necessary
