The Bindery Equipment Operator is responsible for operating one or more of the equipment in the Bindery department in accordance with the company's policies and standard operating procedures governing Quality and Quantity of output. The individual may be assigned primarily to one equipment however will be required to have working knowledge of all other related processes and equipment and may occasionally be expected to handle backup responsibility to facilitate the workflow of the department.



  • At the start of each shift, the operator must complete the daily operator's pre-start form and immediately alert the direct supervisor or Director of Operations/Print, of any observed equipment damage or evidence of wear and tear that may create a hazard.
  • Repair requests must be noted on the appropriate form and submitted to the supervisor.
  • No equipment should be operated where the operator detects a hazard.
  • The job docket should be read carefully and the Quality Assurance form on the back of the job docket sheet must be completed as required and replaced in the docket.
  • All jobs must be run in strict adherence of the specifications and the standard operating procedure followed in terms of monitoring quality, correctness and consistent output.
  • Any deviations should be immediately reported to the direct supervisor or department lead.
  • Folded materials to be packaged as required. Where there is a helper, the operator is responsible for ensuring that the individual is handling the tasks properly and efficiently otherwise the supervisor is to be alerted.
  • If and where authorized, the operator is responsible for any required equipment adjustment to ensure that the each job is finished to the highest standard.
  • Housekeeping must prevail with waste removed from the equipment or floor at the end of each job.
  • Work as part of a team and participate in the RP Graphics' continuous improvement process.



  • High school graduate with post-secondary graphic arts diploma or equivalent experience
  • 2 years' experience in print manufacturing, specifically in the operation of bindery/finishing equipment.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written & orally.
  • Experience on a Duplo 645, an asset.
  • Meticulous, detailed & accurate
  • Physically fit with no lifting constraints
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, continually prioritizing and multi-tasking
  • Results Oriented
  • Analytical thinking & Problem Solving skill
