Van Driver

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Van Driver is responsible for deliveries and pick-up of goods and materials for our customers, suppliers, and vendors throughout the Ottawa and surrounding regions using a Cargo Van.  Responsibilities also include:

  • Schedule and deliver product to customers, suppliers, and vendors throughout the Ottawa and surrounding regions
  • Load and unload Cargo Vans and assist in wrapping and strapping skids
  • Prepares documents assuring the proper paperwork is available and goods are signed for upon delivery
  • Perform daily vehicle inspection for mechanical items and safety issues
  • Participates in the shipping area when no deliveries are required (i.e.: strapping skids, boxing, and shipping)
  • Operates forklifts and/or pallet transporters to load and unload

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary education and/or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must provide a clean driver abstract record obtained from the Ministry of Transportation
  • Local delivery and shipping experience
  • Experience handling delivery slips and completing delivery paperwork and documentation
  • Warehouse and forklift experience

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be client service oriented with good interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate professionalism, confidence, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to drive in all weather conditions
  • Knowledge of Ottawa area and thorough understanding of geographic locations and ability to read maps or use a GPS
  • Ability to use hand carts and pallet jacks to get the deliveries done in an efficient manner
  • Ability to fill out log books, complete circle checks and inspect vehicles
  • Must be meticulous and organized, independent and flexible with strong time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Available for overtime and weekend work as required
